Using photography that isn’t yours can be expensive. If you have the money to use a subscription based service like Shutterstock or Getty Images then go for it! But if you need a reliable photography library that wont cost you a dime, try Unsplash. They have a growing stockpile of images free to use because their photographers are super generous.
I realize that the last line sounded like an ad for Unsplash, but rest assured I wasn’t trying to sound preachy or make it sound like this is a sponsored post. I’m just a guy who likes free photos to design with. They have a variety of styles to choose from which helps because some free resources can have pretty slim pickings.
Unsplash also has a way for you to make your own collections (if you have a free account). You are also able to like photos that you think are dope and support photographers on the site. When you download your free image, they let you know that crediting isn’t required but it fore sure helps out the photographers gain exposure.

- Share. Remix, rework, recreate. This only works if we all take part. So share, manipulate, and reshare.
- Care. While the Unsplash License allows you to share without the limitations of copyright, this doesn’t mean we should ignore the work of our contributors if we can help it. It is not required but when possible, support artists willing to offer their work by giving credit.
- Create. Art only exists because of other art. What you build becomes the next material that inspires the next artist. Without creation we have nothing so go make something.

Shoutout to all the photographers on Unsplash for making my life way more convenient and my bank account a little less empty!
